STATUS OF FUNDRAISING
POST-PRODUCTION: This is our big expense. So far, $52,500 of our costs have been in-kind donations, but we still have to raise $30,000 to take the raw material and shape it into a finished narrative. This includes music, graphics, rights and permissions, fees to use still and moving images, an editor and editing suite, and closed captioning.
ADMINISTRATION: This is behind-the-scenes stuff that is a hard cost but not the sexy part of filmmaking. In order to get our film distributed, we need to pay for insurance, legal fees, accounting, and other miscellaneous things like paper duplication, postage and shipping, and other office supplies. $5,000.
EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT: We would like to bring Trashed to middle schools as well as high school and university students. It will cost $30,000 to have the curriculum designed and distributed.
OUTREACH AND MARKETING: It doesn’t matter how good a program is if no one sees it. So we have set aside $20,000 to enter film festivals, create and maintain this website, and promote Trashed.
